R. Debauche supports water conservation.
Water is essential to the production of wine, but it can require up to 300 bottles of water or more to produce a single bottle of wine. Most of the grapes grown in California are irrigated and can require 300,000 gallons of applied water or more per acre each year.
Our 2017 Zinfandel comes from Bill Stokes’s vineyard near Lodi CA, which uses dry-farming techniques to grow its grapes. In dry farming, little or no water is applied during the irrigation season.
R. Debauche is working towards having all its wines be water neutral. Water neutral means that all the water used to grow the grapes and produce the wine is offset by water conservation measures within the watershed where the grapes are grown. We will keep you updated in our efforts to achieve water neutrality.
Our Partners in Water Neutrality
In order to offset the water used in producing our wines we must partner with organizations who implement water conservation programs.
We are currently partnering with Amador Water Agency by providing them with water conservation fixtures which they distribute free to their customers. This offsets water use from our wines with grapes originating in Plymouth and Lodi. We hope to partner in the future with agencies in Monterrey County.
